Dat Bolwerck is een prijsvraag over hoe we monumenten met zonne-energie kunnen verduurzamen, en toch hun monumentale waarde kunnen behouden.
Het was een uitdaging om in dit ontwerp de gevels onaangetast te laten, maar toch Dat Bolwerck te verduurzamen. Een fris modern ontwerp zal daar voor zorgen. Niet alleen zal Dat Bolwerck een voorbeeld zijn voor groene energie, maar ook worden omgetoverd tot culturele hotspot en een icoon worden van Zutphen.
Wanneer het project afgerond is, zal Dat Bolwerck met behulp van zijn nieuwe zonnepaneel installatie op het nieuwe dak, 10.000 Kwh aan schone, duurzame energie produceren.

Dat Bolwerck is a monument located in the medieval town of Zutphen. A competition has been initiated for architects, designers, artists and students to make the monumental building more sustainable by forms of solar energy.
It was a challenge for me to leave the faƧades untouched, but still make the building sustainable. A new, modern design will give the monument a great source of sustainable energy and also improve the interior. Not only will Dat Bolwerck be a great model for other monumental buildings, in being sustainable, but also an architectual icon and cultural hostspot in Zutphen.
When the project is done, Dat Bolwerck will produce an estimate of 10.000 Kwh of clean, sustainable energy per year, with the help of its new solar panels attached on the new roof.
